Gifts for dad include fun gadgets like camping gear, new fishing rods, the latest tech devices, and best of all, grills! If you are getting your dad or husband a new grill for father’s day, make sure you give him the meats, veggies or fruits that you want him to grill for you on his new grill’s maiden voyage. Here are some of our favorite grilling treats.
Steak Kababs
Steak kababs are classic for grilling because they are good and easy. Cut your steak into cubes, your peppers (any color, I like a variety for good color) in to squares, and your onion (I prefer to grill purple onions) into triangles. Load each element onto your skewers making sure to alternate the ingredients as you go. Drizzle a little olive oil onto your kabab, and sprinkle with your favorite seasoning (I like Montreal Steak or Santa Maria Valley Style), and lay on your grill. You will want to grill from approximately 7 minutes per side, or until your meat is cooked how you want, and your veggies have lightly charred edges.
Note: If you are using wooden skewers, soak the skewers for 30 minutes in water before loading the meat and veggies so that they cook up better without leaving slivers in the food.
Grilled Pineapple
One quick way to prepare a yummy grilled pineapple is to just soak the pineapple in some maple syrup and grill up. You can then serve it with a little more maple syrup if you want extra flavor.
Peaches & Cream
One of my favorite dessert dishes is peach cobbler. This quick mock-cobbler can be made by placing peaches in tinfoil with a little butter, cinnamon & sugar and some brown sugar and grilling for a few minutes per side. Then placing those delicious caramelized peaches on top of some ice cream, and enjoy!
